MOBY
-
During my second-year Design Sprints course, I had the opportunity to collaborate with MOBY, an emerging startup with a mission to revolutionize the laundry industry and combat water pollution caused by microplastics. Over the course of five weeks, I worked closely with a team of two other graduate students to design a strategy pitch for MOBY.

The prevalence of microplastics in our waterways poses a significant environmental challenge, as these tiny particles not only contaminate ecosystems but also have the potential to harm aquatic life and disrupt delicate ecological balances. However, the larger problem that MOBY sought to address was the lack of awareness among consumers regarding this issue. While working closely with MOBY, our team recognized the crucial need to educate and engage the community in understanding the environmental impact of microplastics and the significance of MOBY's innovative solution. Our task was to develop a strategy that would effectively communicate the issue, build a sense of urgency, and create an engaging community around MOBY's mission to prevent further pollution and revolutionize the laundry industry.

To address the challenge of educating and building an engaging community around MOBY, our team devised a comprehensive and multi-pronged distribution approach across various media channels. We recognized the importance of reaching diverse audiences and leveraging different platforms to maximize impact.
Firstly, we developed a strategic social media campaign that utilized captivating visuals, informative content, and targeted messaging to raise awareness about the issue of microplastics. We focused on tapping into the emotion of disgust and discomfort while using alluring imagery to create intrigue. Using the example of a platform like Instagram, we created materials to engage with users, shared educational resources, and encouraged discussions around sustainable laundry practices.
Additionally, we recognized the power of traditional print media in reaching broader demographics. We provided eye-catching advertisements that highlighted MOBY's mission and the urgency of addressing the microplastic problem.
In parallel, we created a centralized website for MOBY, serving as a hub of information and resources. The website featured interactive elements such as infographics to engage visitors and enhance their understanding of microplastics. It also provided access to a community forum, fostering a sense of belonging and encouraging active participation.

Throughout the project, I took a hands-on approach to creating a cohesive visual identity for MOBY. The process began with designing a distinctive and memorable logo encapsulating MOBY's mission and values.
As part of the multi-channel distribution approach, I also spearheaded the development of visuals for the social media campaign. Leveraging my design skills, I created eye-catching graphics, illustrations, and photographs aligned with MOBY's brand voice and messaging. These visuals were strategically crafted to engage the target audience, convey key information about microplastics, and spark conversations around sustainable laundry practices.
In addition to the social media campaign, I took responsibility for creating all the print ads. I conceptualized and designed compelling visuals that captured readers' attention by capitalizing on the strong emotion of disgust. By crafting persuasive imagery and copy, I aimed to highlight the urgency of the microplastic problem and promote MOBY as the solution.
Furthermore, I played a key role in designing infographics for the MOBY website. These infographics were essential in breaking down complex information about microplastics into easily understandable visuals. Using data visualization, icons, and concise text, I created infographics that educated and engaged website visitors, empowering them to take action.
Throughout the process, I maintained a consistent visual language, ensuring that the logo, social media visuals, print ads, and website infographics were aligned with MOBY's brand identity. By leveraging my design skills and creative vision, I contributed to the project's overall success by delivering impactful and visually compelling assets that supported MOBY's educational and community-building efforts.
